EDINBURGH, Scotland – Aviagen® Kft recently came together with long-time customer Carmistin International – a major player in Romania’s agri-food industry – to deliver practical poultry management training to nearly 40 broiler farmers from Carmistin and its subsidiaries.
Held from April 1-3 at Carmistin’s headquarters in Bucharest and nearby farms, the event combined classroom-style presentations with on-farm practical sessions. The goal: to strengthen bird welfare and boost farm performance through everyday best practices. Topics covered included biosecurity, early chick care, and environmental management – all key to healthy, sustainable flocks.
Aviagen Kft experts Dejan Bosanac, Regional Technical Manager; Dr. Zoltán Marton, Senior Poultry Veterinarian; and Anton Paul, Technical Service Manager, shared insights on day one. From managing ventilation in changing weather to giving chicks the best start in life, their advice focused on simple, effective approaches grounded in animal welfare.
The following days brought the theory to life with hands-on sessions at Carmistin’s Potcoava and Plesa farms. Attendees explored real-world scenarios, including a ventilation simulation to fine-tune house climate conditions for flock comfort and performance.
“The on-site sessions were very well received,” said Bogdan Grama, Senior Operational and Developer Manager. “They offered a great opportunity to apply learnings in the field and address real challenges. We sincerely thank the Aviagen team for their support and shared expertise.”
Dejan added, “This was a great opportunity to not only present, but to roll up our sleeves and work side-by-side with customers in the broiler houses. The exchange of experience was invaluable – a true example of how we’re breeding success together with Carmistin and our customers throughout the region.”
